Dear fellow
entrepreneurs:
First
of all, I would like to thank the charter members and members at
large for entrusting me as the next president of TiE-Carolinas. I
have been associated with the organization for the past seven years,
initially as a member, and then I played an active role as an
executive team member, rounding out my participation as a charter
member for the past two years.
My entrepreneurial journey started
when I was 17, with my first venture as a partner in a retail shop.
After 15 years with corporate America and a couple of ventures in
between, I finally decided to go on my own in 1998. I truly feel,
“Once an entrepreneur, you are always an entrepreneur.” It has
been a tough transition; nevertheless, it’s an experience that
cannot be obtained by any other means. My journey continues with my
current operations, based in India and the United States, providing
IT related services on various platforms.
I
attribute a large part of my success to being an integral part of TiE
organization. It is my firm belief that my growth is directly
proportional to the growth of this organization. I have learned from
fellow entrepreneurs, and speakers alike. Being an integral part of
TiE-Carolinas has helped me to broaden my network beyond belief. I
would encourage you to participate with the TiE organization as much
as you can in order to grow personally and professionally, as well.
TiE,
The Indus Entrepreneurs, also known as Talent Ideas and Enterprise,
is a global, non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of
entrepreneurship. Founded in 1992, in Silicon Valley by a group of
successful entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and senior
professionals with roots in the Indus region, the organization today
has over 12,000 members across 47 chapters in 11 countries.
Dedicated to the
virtuous cycle of wealth creation and giving back to the community,
TiE's focus is on generating and nurturing our next generation of
entrepreneurs. The one constant guiding the evolution of TiE has been
its philosophical framework. It has kept the vision and decisions of
TiE's leadership true to its basic beliefs that wealth creation and
giving back to society are invaluable human endeavors.
TiE-Carolinas
was founded in 2000, as an affiliate TiE chapter serving the
Carolinas region. As the current chapter president, I am proud to
follow on a path that has been paved by founding chapter president,
Vivek Wadhwa, and second chapter president, Swadesh Chatterjee, and
past president , Rajesh Rao. It is due to their hard work, dedication
& passion that TiE-Carolinas is a vibrant organization, and I
recognize them for their contributions.
My
goal as a chapter president is to ensure that chapter continues on
this path, serving entrepreneurs, membership, business community and
sponsors. As part of the growth strategy, I would like to see a
stronger chapter with increased contributions from sponsors, by
adding new charter members, and members. This will facilitate hiring
a full time executive director for TiE-Carolinas, which will lead to
future growth and provide us with further flexibility in serving the
needs of local entrepreneurs.
I
look forward to being of service to you and would urge you to provide
any suggestions on how we can better meet your needs. Please feel
free to contact me directly or anyone on the executive team with your
ideas, thoughts and recommendations.
Sincerely,
Sonny Gupta
President
TiE-Carolinas
